 STAFF GRADE PSYCHOLOGIST

provides a range of services for women, children and families who are
homeless and vulnerable to homelessness. This post will further
develop pre-existing psychology services to GSC in line with team
plans and objectives and within established professional standards,
guidelines and policy. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a
well-established service, to the fore of service delivery in this area
nationally and to be part of a new and emerging field within the
profession of psychology.

SUMMARY OF KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(PLEASE REQUEST AND VIEW FULL JOB SPEC AS DETAILED BELOW PRIOR TO
APPLICATION):

* In conjunction with the Senior Psychologist / Principal Psychology
Manager and working in close collaboration with staff of Good Shepherd
Cork, be responsible for the ongoing development and delivery of a
full range of psychology services for women and children who are
homeless.
* Provision of psychoeducation, support, consultation and training
to GSC staff pertaining to needs of service users and staff (in the
context of their roles) to enhance clinical outcomes for service
users.
* Conduct psychological screening and assessments for adults and
children to identify mental health / psychological needs and arrange
referral to services as appropriate and to assist in the delivery of
on- site psychological interventions in the context of service
user’s challenging circumstances.
* Provision of staff training and reflective practice supports to
staff to improve service user outcomes.
* Provision of a range of psychological interventions to meet the
needs of service users in the context of the current psychosocial
circumstances.

REPORTING TO THE THE HSE SENIOR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST WITH GSC AND/OR
THE PRINCIPAL PSYCHOLOGY MANAGER IN HSE SOCIAL INCLUSION, THE
CANDIDATE WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:

* Appropriate qualifications for eligibility to work as a staff
grade psychologist with adults and children, as per Dept. of health /
HSE requirements and sufficient clinical / professional knowledge to
carry out duties and responsibilities of the role, as depicted in the
full job spec, in a safe, effective and evidence-based manner.
* Awareness and passion for providing a service to marginalised
communities who have experienced multiple adverse childhood
experiences and to drive the development of psychological services in
this developing area of support within homelessness services.
* The ability to provide safe, efficient and effective service and
evidence-based practice.
* Commitment to CPD, capacity to be self-driven and motivated.
Responsive to emerging needs in this new field of work and contribute
to the expansion of the psychology service.
